Background Information:
Kathy is a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 Kathy has worked within local NHS mental health services providing individual and group psychological therapy for people experiencing a range of mental health/psychological difficulties, e.g. depression, anxiety, eating difficulties, relationship distress, difficulties regarding past trauma.
In her most recent NHS post, Kathy worked within physical health, offering psychological therapy input for people experiencing Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Cancer diagnoses. Her current NHS role now involves working with the psychological impact of chronic/persistent pain. This involves work around both acceptance and adjustment to the physical health difficulty itself, as well as work on the psychological impact that this can have (i.e: anxiety, lowered mood, lowered confidence, anger and change in sense of identity).
In addition to the above, Kathy has an interest in the psychological impact of trauma and is trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), which is an evidenced based psychological therapy for trauma.
Kathy is experienced at working with clients around both childhood trauma as well as trauma in adulthood. Kathy is currently BUPA approved and can be found on the BUPA approved Consultant and Therapies Finder web-page (finder.bupa.co.uk).
